Jessica Newman of Just World International (www.justworldinternational.org) had an idea 15 years ago to create a way for competitive equestrians to help children in impoverished communities thrive. She didn’t just think about it as she was competing her show jumping horses and let the thought slide through–she actually put the thought into ACTION by starting small–asking riders to donate a portion of their prize money winnings to Just World International. Growing from there, Jessica hired staff and started taking interested equestrians to the EXACT people they were helping to give them a glimpse of how their donations are truly helping impoverished children in Cambodia, Guatemala, and Honduras.
In only 15 years, Just World has reached a level where 6,500 children are receiving essential needs through Just World’s rider ambassadors and corporate donations. Additionally, two of the founders of Just World’s partner projects have received the prestigious CNN Top Hero Award (http://www.cnn.com/specials/cnn-heroes)!!!!
Friday January 12, 2018 Just World International held their annual Gala that kicked off the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival (http://pbiec.coth.com) social season. The Newman’s beautiful Belle Herbe Farm in Wellington, FL hosted the 15th Annual Gala with a Hollywood comes to Wellington theme. Guests were taken by golf cart to the entrance of “Welliwood” where paparazzi were snapping photos and fans were shouting for autographs as the guests walked the red carpet into the entrance of the Gala.
Once inside, guests could pose with famous actors such as George Clooney, Elvis, and John Wayne, as well as actresses such as Angelina Jolie, Audrey Hepburn, and Marilyn Monroe. Bolay (https://eatbolay.com) provided delicious food for guests who also enjoyed the open bar with speciality drinks by sponsor Tito’s Vodka.
Silent and Live Auction Items included high end equestrian items and lessons with Olympic Gold Medal riders, fine jewelry, one of a kind artwork and photographs, a stay at the world famous Hippocrates institute in West Palm Beach (https://hippocratesinst.org), a vacation in a French Chateau, and use of a private yacht for 8. Tickets to sporting events and tickets for a filming of one of James Corden’s The Late Late Night Show (http://www.cbs.com/shows/late-late-show/) were very popular silent auction items as well!!
Fotoboyz was in the middle of all this Hollywood action with our ever popular Graffiti Wall, sponsored by premier outfitter for Equestrians, their horses, and their hounds–Horseware Ireland (https://shop.horseware.com). This is the second year we have partnered with this great company for the Just World Gala. This year was just as successful and fun as last year!!! Top Equestrians including Laura Kraut and Norman Dello Joio enjoyed the booth, as well as many young Olympic hopefuls, their families and friends.
We also had the Social Media Sharing Station set up so guests could share their fun images with friends around the world via email, text, and social media.
